The Speakers

Jeremy Reets started in water restoration in 1990. He is known as the innovator of the TES/ETES drying systems and a discipline of drying called Directed Heat Drying™. He developed the Evaporation Potential formula for use by restorers. He opened Reets Drying Academy and flood house in 2005 to provide water damage restoration education. In 2011, Jeremy developed Reets.TV, a series of online water restoration training packages.

Nick Sharp has worked with Jeremy Reets for over a decade now. He started in carpet cleaning and mitigation before moving to the construction side as a project manager. He then was the senior estimator for Champion Construction for over 8 years. Since its inception in 2015, Nick has been an instructor of our Restoration Estimating & Negotiating course. His most recent venture is as a restoration estimate consultant.

Scott is recognized as the leading authority in human resources, organizational development, and organizational leadership in the restoration and cleaning industries. As a Business Development Advisor for Violand Management, he consults with numerous businesses and professionals to help them achieve maximum growth. Scott is also a facilitator, business trainer, and adjunct professor for Kent State University. Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in human resource management and his master’s degree in organizational leadership, both from Geneva College.

Chuck founded Violand Management Associates in 1987 with the objective of helping owners of restoration and cleaning companies build profitable businesses for their long-term professional and personal success. As an author and popular keynote speaker, Chuck is a respected authority on entrepreneurial small businesses, having spent over thirty years as both a business consultant and executive coach. Chuck is a regular contributor to trade journals and newsletters, and is the author of the popular weekly leadership series Monday Morning Notes.

In 2012, after having spent 20 years as an owner/operator of a cleaning & restoration business, Derek started sharing his business, sales and marketing expertise with his peers in the industry. Derek is the co-founder of Spot On Solutions (www.spotonsolutions.com) and his sole focus nowadays is to help entrepreneurs build profitable businesses by providing proven solutions that result in lasting success.  As a John Maxwell Certified Speaker/Coach along with being dubbed The High Preece of Marketing, Derek takes every opportunity to help organizations and individuals grow their business & reach their highest potential.

Barry holds a BS degree in education from Springfield College and was a public school teacher for 10 years and received the “Excellence in Education” Award by the State of NH and Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the New Hampshire Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Barry began his career in the carpet installation, cleaning, restoration industry in the mid 1960’s with his fathers business and continued as the owner of Carpet & Cleaning Craftsman, Inc. in Peterborough, NH until December 1999. Barry’s certifications within the cleaning and restoration industries include:  IICRC certified Master Cleaner; Master Restorer; Senior Carpet Inspector.  Barry was also an approved OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer.

Ben Justesen started in the restoration industry at a young age growing up in the business that his father started, JRCC. He bought the business 10 years ago and has grown it 400% in that time with 3 offices in rural Eastern Washington. His expertise is in marketing, estimating, pricing feedback, budgets, and work orders.

With certifications in all aspects of the production side of the industry, he also became an Xactimate Affiliate Trainer and started Enlightened Restoration Solutions to offer practical training for restorers.

Positions held: President of JRCC, President of Enlightened Restoration Solutions, President of Grant County Homebuilders, Chairman to the Parade of Homes, RIA Membership Committee, RIA Chair of Young Professional Restorers Committee, Soccer coach for city league.

Awards won: Remodeler’s Magazine Top 500 in the Nation, Remodeler’s Big 50, Inc. Magazine’s 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies, and 2018 RIA Patricia L. Harmon Golden Quill Award for Best Article.

Mark Whatley (AKA “Whatley”) is a licensed general contractor and has been active in the restoration industry for nearly ten years. He is an Xactimate Certified Trainer and his contracting experience incorporates all aspects of a loss, from mitigation to repair. Whatley loves this industry, and he is passionate about making a dent in the restoration ecosystem. He has founded non-profit Actionable Insights, which seeks to preserve the health of the restoration industry by establishing adjusting guidelines that serve as a baseline for noble claims settlement. He does this with an eye toward providing space for contractors and adjusters to fall in love with their jobs again. He is the author of The Umpire’s Mitigation Manual in addition to the Umpire’s Repair Manual. These publications have formed the foundation of the 3000+ page Insight Sheet Database that has essentially become the Wikipedia of Xactimate invoicing templates.

Seth Harrison graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business in 2012. Within six months of joining the restoration industry, he was promoted to superintendent of the largest occupied residential re-pipe in North American history. With that experience in hand, he managed the logistics and finances for a general contractor for two years before becoming a full-time estimator. As the associate director of Actionable Insights, Seth recently co-authored a 3000+ page book of Xactimate invoicing templates and launched a SaaS platform to make those templates available to contractors and adjusters alike.

Rachel Adams has been involved in the water damage and environmental health industries for more than 27 years.  She holds a dual bachelor degree in Environmental Health Sciences and Medical Technology (Toxicology) from Purdue University.  She is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She also holds a Master Restorer designation from the IICRC through her training, dedication and field experience.   

Rachel is currently the Education Specialist for Aramsco and is located in Orlando, Florida.  Rachel was the founder and President of Indoor Environmental Management, Inc. (IEM) in 1994 in which she conducted inspections of both residential and commercial buildings throughout the country.  IEM grew to develop one of the leading consulting and state-of-the-art laboratories serving the needs of clients throughout North America.  

Rachel served on the Board of Directors for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, Restoration Certification (IICRC) and was appointed to serve as the Technical Advisory Committee Chair for the development of the IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT).   Rachel serves on the committee to write and establish guidelines and updates for the standard of care for mold remediation, also referred to as the S520, Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation.  Courses that she currently provides for IICRC certification include, AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT), Water Damage Technician (WRT), Applied Structural Drying (ASD), Health and Safety Technician (HST), OSHA 10 and 30 hour compliance courses, Lead RRP Licensing Training, Building Investigation, and Environmental Microbiology Sampling.
